IMG_1045.jpgSailboat Seen From San Diego0 viewsThe contrast between the little sailboat and the gigantic aircraft carrier to the right was impressive. While Doug and Douglas toured the Midway, I played with my new camera and watched sailboats.

P8110316.jpgTwo Pelicans1 viewsProbably heading for the spot just behind the breaking waves, where they would dive from a considerable height, to catch their dinner. Doug has some great shots of the dives in his gallery.

P8120335.jpgSurf's Up!1 viewsThere were almost always surfers at Mission Beach, although the greatest number seemed to appear in the early morning, before work, and in the late afternoon. There were also lots of boogie boards and body surfers. The lifeguards kept a careful eye on the situation, and usually had signs up to indicate where swimming was allowed and where the surfers should be.Oct 04, 2011

P8120333.jpgEmergency Access? This Bird Doesn't Seem To Care1 viewsRight where we walked onto the beach every day, was a big open spot where no-one was allowed to set up umbrellas, beach towels, sand castles or the like. This area was kept free for Emergency Vehicles, and that was enforced by the lifeguards. Which meant that we always had a great view of the beach, the surf and the sunsets. And the occasional bird.Oct 04, 2011
